SPA Sano per Aqua

The word Spa is often associated with the Latin acronym for Sano Per Aqua, meaning Health Through Water.

Spa culture is a big deal in Romania and a subject close to my heart.

I’m fascinated by the interaction of humans with the element of water for its health promoting benefits. I’ve spent years photographing the Spa culture in Romania, where there is an abundance of naturally occurring thermal springs, salt water springs and waters with all sorts of health promoting benefits.

Nature’s Spa is something I love both being a part of and capturing this primordial connection that water offers us with nature and with each others.

This is an ongoing series photographed in Baile Herculane which is set in a stunning valley in the Carpathian mountains, well known for its sulphur rich thermal waters, popular with locals and many health holidays makers.
